Safety Info
Firearms Carry
Treat all firearms as though they are loaded. Any firearm with a live
cartridge in the chamber has the potential to accidentally discharge.
Certain revolvers and semi-automatic pistols should only be kept with the
hammer or firing pin resting on an empty chamber. It is solely your
responsibility to use and practice extreme caution when carrying or handling
any firearm.
Firearms Retention
Never rely on the holster retention device to compensate for activity
that could cause the firearm to dislodge. Always be certain that the firearm
is fully seated properly in its holster. During increased physical activity
your firearm should be held in place by hand to avoid dislodging from the
holster.
Firearms Holstering
Always be sure the firearm is uncocked before placing it in the
holster. Attempting to cock a firearm while in the holster or carrying a
cocked firearm could result in an accidental discharge. Always point your
firearm in a safe direction. During holstering or unholstering your handgun
keep your finger out of the trigger guard and always place your thumb on the
back of the slide or hammer to prevent movement during placement. Be certain
it's properly seated in the holster and that any retention device is
properly used.
Holster Fitting
Your holster should only be used with the designated gun model
it was designed for. If there are any doubts stop using immediately and
contact Rockin BS Leatherworks. Before using a holster first check it for fit with an
unloaded firearm. Despite Rockin BS Leatherworks' efforts to fit the latest model
handguns, manufactures of handguns continually update their products, and
even minor specification changes can compromise your safety with respect to
how the gun fits. Rockin BS Leatherworks will not be held responsible for such changes or
other errors such as typographical or human. It is your responsibility to
pay attention to detail with regard to your holster's condition, including,
but not limited to, stitching, snaps, rivets, or other retaining devices,
for fit and function. If, at any time, your holster becomes worn, loose,
defective, or ill-fitting, stop use immediately.
Holster Break-in
Congratulations on your purchase of a Rockin BS Leatherworks Custom Leather holster.
This holster was designed to last for many years. Constructed from genuine vegetable tanned leather from Wickett-Craig, and treated with high quality water-resistant finish, it should serve its purpose well.
Your holster was custom made to your specifications, and is the only one like it in the world. Every stitch was made by hand, and the leather was formed by hand to fit your gun like a glove. However, its not ready to be used just yet.
The fit will initially be very tight. This is normal. Seat your gun in the holster (make sure its unloaded) and let it sit overnight. If the fit is still very tight, wrap the gun once in thin plastic (such as a plastic grocery bag or a Ziploc bag) and insert the gun into the holster. Let it sit for 3 or 4 hours, and it should stretch the leather. Dont overdo it, theres no way to make it smaller once its been stretched. DO NOT wet the holster.
Once this is accomplished, you need to practice your draw (with an unloaded gun, of course). The gun should fit well, but after approximately 50 draw/reholster drills, you should begin to notice that the draw is very smooth. You should practice this regularly to be sure it is ingrained into your muscle memory.
Wear your holster around your home for several hours before you wear it outside. Being leather, it will slowly form to the shape of your body and become more comfortable. This will happen naturally when you wear it normally for several hours - no extra bending or forming of the holster is necessary. Then, youre ready to wear your holster. After a week or two, the finish will polish up from a rough semi-gloss to a smooth, healthy shine.
Eventually, the holster will accumulate lint and dust. DO NOT clean by immersing in water. Use a slightly damp cloth if necessary, but a dry cloth should work fine most of the time. DO NOT ever apply baseball glove oil, or any other leather conditioner to the holster. A baseball glove must be soft and flexible - this holster is designed to be somewhat rigid and hold your gun securely. Any petroleum or oil product will soften and degrade the leather. Any alcohol-based cleaner may damage the water-resistant "Resolene" finish. DO NOT ever sand the holster - sanding will remove the Resolene finish, exposing the dye beneath.
If there is ever a problem with this holster, any questions, or future orders, please contact us at leathercraft@rockinbsleatherworks.info

Alteration
You should in no way alter or modify your firearm or your
holster. Doing so may cause accidental discharge. Rockin BS Leatherworks holsters are
designed and made to function safely and effectively with modern,
high-quality, factory-equipped handguns. Handguns using modified sights,
target triggers, grip adapters or trigger shoes may interfere with the
proper fit between the gun and the holster. Handguns with trigger shoes
should never be used with any holster, due to the increased risk of an
accidental discharge that may occur and cause harm, death, or serious bodily
injury.
